Planet India

Planet India set out to capture the historic opportunity presented by India's presidency of the G20 with a first-of-its-kind powerful visual storytelling campaign celebrating India's solutions to the climate and nature crisis.

In collaboration with Indian partners Pluc.tv, Felis Creations and Backpack Films gathered a host of video imagery of India, including the stories of climate and nature heroes from across the sub-continent and placed all the shots on our open-source footage library, Open Planet.  We then invited influencers across India to tell stories to Indians and non-Indians alike about the energetic, purposeful response of India to the planetary crisis.  X’s of social films were made with our shots as a result, and the hashtag Planet India was No.1 on Twitter/X during the G20 event.

We also made a compilation film of our own, This is Planet India, fronted by actor and campaigner Jackie Schroff.  Screened on Jio Cinema, it reached an astounding audience of over 400 million people and trended at number 4 for two weeks on the platform, defying expectations and proving that climate campaigns, done well, can reach significant mainstream audiences.

The Planet India campaign continued to deliver impact at major events (UNGA, COP28 and Davos), inspiring continued storytelling about climate action.
